Gov Lalong” Says he works for the party, not religion” Lauds Buhari for approving Cancer Center in Jos

The governor also denied the claim that he lobbied to become the running mate of the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for the 2023 elections.

Lalong, who met behind closed doors with President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, told State House correspondents after the meeting that the Plateau State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), came to the Airport in Jos to invite him after his arrangement as the APC presidential campaign DG.

Recall that there have been judgments by the CAN in certain areas over the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket, describing it as disrespectful to their faith.

Lalong nonetheless, said that as a born, baptized and confirmed Catholic, who has the highest papacy’s award from the Vatican – Knight of Saint Gregory the Great, “the Pope has not told me it was wrong to be the Director – General of the Muslim-Muslim presidential campaign for my party.”

The governor said, “As a born, baptized and confirmed Catholic, who has the highest award from the papacy, Knight of Saint Gregory the Great, the Pope has not told me that it was wrong for me to be the DG of the APC presidential campaign team.

“The appointment was strictly a party affair and has nothing to do with religion.”

Lalong also revealed that President Buhari Approves the University of Jos As a Cancer Centre

Speaking further, Governor Lalong disclosed that President Buhari has approved the University of Jos as a National Cancer Centre, adding that the people of the State will remain grateful to Buhari for delivering a lot of democratic dividends to Plateau.

“My visit to the President is to come and show him appreciation because of what he has done for Plateau State in the last few months. Just a week or two ago, we just got approval to make the University of Jos a Cancer Centre. I saw over N3 billion approved for the institution as a special centre for cancer so it’s not a small achievement.
