Buhari Asks Ministers With Electoral Ambitions to Resign

President Muhammadu has directed ministers with presidential and other political ambitions to resign.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, announced this while briefing State House reporters on the outcome of the federal cabinet meeting presided over by Buhari at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

He said the ministers have been given up till May 16, 2022, to quit the cabinet.

He said the President gave the directive at the Wednesday Federal Executive Council meeting.

The minister of state for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajuiba, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and the Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige are expected to resign following the directive.

Justice Minister Malami is seeking APC guber ticket for Kebbi State while the rest are gunning for the Presidency.

Meanwhile, a story coming out as this report was being concluded for publication Wednesday afternoon indicated that the Minister of State for Education Emeka Nwajuiba had already resigned.
