Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State vehemently denies any involvement in the misappropriation of public funds throughout his two terms in office. During his final media address as governor, he made it clear that he had never stolen a single penny from the government’s coffers.

According to a report by Daily Trust, El-Rufai is set to hand over the reins of power to Governor-elect Uba Sani in precisely one week from now.

In response to criticisms regarding his performance in office, Governor El-Rufai firmly stated, “I can swear I never stole a kobo from the government coffers.”

Furthermore, El-Rufai highlighted that the only house he owned prior to assuming the position of governor is the very same residence he intends to retire to when his tenure expires on May 29, 2023.

He explained, “For those who question our financial dealings, they should examine their claims carefully. We did not obtain loans and abscond to Dubai to purchase lavish properties or construct mansions on Jabi Road for our comfort. That is not our modus operandi.”

“When I assumed the role of governor in Kaduna, I possessed only one house on Danja Road at Ungwan Sarki. Today, as I approach the end of my term, I give glory to God for that same house, as it remains the only property I own. I have not constructed any extravagant mansions, as I do not require them,” El-Rufai elaborated.

The governor also threw down a challenge to his predecessors, urging them to come forward and take an oath on the Qur’an, swearing that they too never embezzled a single kobo of Kaduna’s resources that were not rightfully theirs.

El-Rufai’s assertions stand as a strong declaration against the allegations of financial misconduct, emphasizing his commitment to transparency and integrity in public office.
