AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the governor of Kwara State, has declared Wednesday, January 25, a public holiday so that civil servants can collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
The Head of Service, Susan Oluwole, revealed this in a statement on Tuesday.
The approval, according to her, is intended to give the employees enough time to obtain their PVCs from the Independent National Electoral Commission in order to participate in the forthcoming general election.
“Those yet to get their voter cards are advised to immediately do so before the expiration of the collection date,” the statement said.
In the meantime, Dr. Jimoh Ayinla, the Acting Provost of the College of Education in Ilorin, has been fired by Governor AbdulRazaq.
Ayinla served as the provost for 20 months before being fired.
Ayinla has been replaced by the governor by Dr. Shehu Jawondo, Chief Imam of the College Mosque.
Before a substantive provost is appointed, the newly appointed provost is anticipated to serve for three months.
Jawondo held the position of Sub-Dean for the Arabic Medium Department in the School of Languages prior to his appointment.
